
Mounica Akula
CEO | Co-Founder | Marketing, Networking Director
To Mounica, CARE is like her own child. She credits her enthusiasm for education and motivation to create positive change in founding CARE- A Global Initiative. Mounica is currently a sophomore at Indiana University studying Management, Entrepreneurship, Law, and French. She is a personable student who has always had a passion for giving back to her community and seeing her work create an impact. In past years, Mounica has served in many volunteer positions that have helped her gain the experience she needs for CARE. She has dedicated many years and served on the Board of Champions league at the Town North YMCA and has won awards such as the Youth Character Award from the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. Mounica hopes to take her education, volunteer and work experience to help CARE achieve the global reach she knows it can have. After recently losing someone very dear to her heart, who suffered from breast cancer, Mounica has found a fierce determination in making CARE a non-profit that brings a bright smile to the people it serves.

Sharanya Akula
Co-Founder
Even as a child helping others was always one of Sharanya’s main priorities. Being a part of CARE allows her to not only do this, but also pursue her passions in medicine and healthcare. Sharanya is currently a Junior at NYU majoring in neural science and minoring in chemistry and child and adult mental studies. Sharanya hopes to work with CARE in order to continue its outreach and make the biggest impact possible.

Maya DiOrio
Director of Research
Maya is currently a sophomore at Indiana University studying Human Development and Family Studies, French, and Business. She is an ambitious student who loves giving back to others. Maya is dedicated to CARE - A Global Initiative because she has had personal experiences with the effects of lung cancer, as her grandfather suffered from it. She wants to use her experiences with cancer to help others. Maya is fueled by her passion to give back to her community and is excited to do so with CARE.

Makynsie Bancroft
Director of Donations
Makynsie is a junior at Indiana University Bloomington studying Economics with an honors certificate in Business Management. She is originally from Santa Claus, Indiana, and became involved in CARE - A Global Initiative because her grandpa is a lung cancer survivor. She wants to use her family's experience to support other breast and lung cancer victims and their families. Makynsie believes that her experience and skills will contribute to making CARE a non-profit that effectively makes a positive impact, not only on those affected by breast and lung cancer, but also on those volunteering with the organization.

Emily Terrill
Social Media Director
Emily is very excited to be a part of this team, that is just like a second family. She is dedicated to CARE and all of its values and missions, as she holds them very close to her heart. Both her grandma and uncle have battled with breast cancer, and she is eager to help CARE initiate a conversation with communities. Emily is presently a second year undergraduate at Indiana University with a major in Human Biology and a minor in Molecular Life Sciences. She is passionate about educating people and helping in any way she can. She fully believes that CARE is a special organization where her enthusiasm and skills can be utilized for the greater good.

Sonia DiOrio
Director of Design
Sonia is currently a senior at NYU studying Animation and Biological Archaeology. With years of refining her eye for design and a deep desire to help others, CARE, for her, became the perfect balance between art and service. After experiencing her grandfather struggle with lung cancer and watching the effects ripple out to his family and community, joining CARE was only natural. She is excited to bring her experience as an artist to CARE to help make the initiative’s outreach and impact as large as possible.

Emily Ren
Design Associate
Emily is a freshman from Princeton, studying finance at Indiana University- Bloomington. She became involved with CARE - A Global Initiative with the goal to help create change in the fight against cancer. As a child, she saw closest family members go through cancer and how it changed her family. Emily hopes to do her part through design and logistics to create a positive impact for those who are going through similar experiences.
